How to Use This Checklist
- **Walk through and record header details.** Start the inspection with the Restroom Cleaning Inspection section and note the date conducted, who is preparing it, and the location.
- **Complete general cleaning.** Work through floors, sink basin, faucet fixtures and countertops, baseboards and wall tiles, mirrors, wall-mounted frames, high-touch surfaces, corners and ceilings, trash receptacles, grout lines, and the plumbing and drain checks, marking each item as you finish it.
- **Clean the shower and tub area.** Scrub, rinse and dry the shower stall and bathtub surfaces, then wash the shower doors or curtains and check them for soap scum, hard water stains, and mildew.
- **Service the toilet and bidet.** Sanitize the flush handle and seat, disinfect the exterior and base, test the flush mechanism for running or leaks, and verify that any bidet is in proper working condition.
- **Restock supplies and amenities.** Replace used towels, refill toilet paper and tissue, swap out bathmats, replenish toiletries, and refresh air fresheners or scent dispensers.
- **Close out the inspection.** Sign the checklist, record the finished time, and note the real start and end dates so there is a clear record of when the work was carried out.

What this process is
This toilet cleaning inspection is a structured walkthrough of a restroom to verify that every cleaning task has been completed to standard and that the room's essentials are fully stocked. It turns a routine chore into an inspectable process, so you can confirm not only that surfaces look clean but that the fixtures, plumbing, and supplies behind them are in order. It is organised into the areas a restroom inspection naturally follows: general cleaning across floors, walls and high-touch points, the shower and tub area, the toilet and bidet, and the supplies and amenities the room depends on. Around 31 items cover the detail.
Why a consistent inspection matters
Restrooms are among the most heavily used and most closely judged spaces in any building. Dust, water spots, discolored grout, urine residue, or a single empty toilet paper dispenser stand out immediately, and people read them as a sign of how the rest of the premises is managed. An inspection that runs to a fixed list does two things at once: it makes sure the visible finish is right, and it catches the less obvious problems that quietly get worse, such as a running flush mechanism, a leaking supply hose, a soap dispenser crusted with residue, or a floor drain building up hair that will eventually clog. Working to the same items every time also makes results comparable between visits and between locations.
What a thorough inspection covers
**General cleaning and high-touch surfaces** Floors are swept and mopped free of dust, dirt, and debris. Sink basins, faucet fixtures, and countertops are wiped dry and left without water spots, and personal items or clutter are cleared away. Baseboards, wall tiles, and wainscoting are dusted, mirrors are polished clear of streaks and fingerprints, and wall-mounted frames and decorative elements are dusted. Light switches, door handles, and surrounding high-touch surfaces are wiped and disinfected. Corners and ceiling areas are cleared of cobwebs. **Fixtures and fittings** Trash receptacles are emptied, cleaned inside, and relined. Discolored or stained grout is scrubbed with a grout brush. Supply hoses, shut-off valves, and exposed pipework are checked for leaks or moisture, and floor drains are cleared of hair and debris to prevent clogging. **The shower and tub area**, and separately **the toilet and bidet**, each get their own section: - Shower stall and bathtub surfaces are scrubbed, rinsed, and dried, and the doors or curtains are washed free of soap scum, hard water stains, and mildew. - The toilet flush handle and seat are sanitized, and the exterior and base are disinfected to remove urine residue and drip stains. - The flush mechanism is tested and confirmed not to be running or leaking, and any bidet is checked as working. **Supplies and amenities** Used hand and bath towels are replaced, toilet paper and tissue are refilled to adequate levels, bathmats are swapped for clean, dry, correctly positioned ones, depleted or expired toiletries are replaced, and air fresheners are refreshed so the room smells pleasant.
How to carry it out
Work the room in a fixed order so nothing is skipped. Record the date, who is preparing the inspection, and the location first, then move through general cleaning, the shower and tub, the toilet and bidet, and supplies. Answer each item on the checklist and add a short note on anything unusual, particularly a leak, a sticky flush, or a stain that will not lift. Sign off, note the finish time, and record the real start and end dates so there is a clear record of when the work was done. > A short note is worth more than a tick. Where a working scale is used, a simple Yes, No, or N/A is enough for most items.
