Introduction

Walk through the establishment as a regular customer would, observe each detail carefully, and answer every question based on your genuine experience.

General questions

The audit begins with basic observations about access and arrival: whether there is adequate parking near the building, whether the suite or room was easy to find, whether visible signs direct you toward the entrance, and whether the building itself was easy to find.

Customer experience

This section covers the welcome you receive at reception or the information area, including whether a receptionist or staff member is present, whether they greet you, make eye contact, ask how they can help, direct you where you need to go, and appear friendly.

Staff

Staff assessment includes whether a resource staff member is present and wearing a name badge, satisfaction with the wait time when you requested assistance, whether they gave an overview of available services, whether they offered special promotions or an upsell, and whether they followed up to ask if you had further questions. Each staff attribute — attentiveness, availability, courtesy, friendliness, helpfulness, level of knowledge, professional appearance, and professional behaviour — is scored on an Excellent, Satisfactory, Non-compliant, or N/A scale. Additional questions ask how comfortable they made you feel, how clearly they explained things, how well they treated you with respect, and how well they responded to your question.

Services

Service evaluation covers staff knowledge of the services, staff knowledge of prices, the wait time before receiving the service, and the quality of the service itself.

Environment

The physical environment is assessed for visual appeal, a welcoming atmosphere, good organisation, and suitability of the service as an office for conducting a job search.

Overall impression

You record your overall impression of the store, business, or centre, list specific examples of what was done well, identify opportunities for improvement with specific examples, and add any other comments or clarification about your previous answers.

Frequently Asked Questions

A mystery customer audit is a visit in which you act as an ordinary customer while systematically observing and recording the experience. The checklist covers parking, how easily you find the building, suite, and entrance signs; the welcome at reception; staff presence, greetings, eye contact, and helpfulness; the services and promotions offered; staff knowledge, courtesy, and wait times; the physical environment; and your overall impression.

The process follows the sequence an ordinary customer experiences. You start by walking through the establishment and observing each detail carefully, assessing parking, signage, and the entrance. At reception you note whether a staff member is present, whether they greet you, make eye contact, ask how they can help, and direct you appropriately. You then evaluate staff attributes, service quality, and the physical environment, and close by recording what was done well, opportunities for improvement, and any additional comments.

The audit observes that the setting is suitable as an office for conducting a job search, and it evaluates whether the establishment can be found easily through visible signage and provides a welcoming atmosphere. Staff interactions and service delivery are assessed against the same standard an ordinary customer would apply.

The checklist uses two scales. Yes/No/N/A answers apply to factual observations such as parking availability, signage, and staff presence. Excellent/Satisfactory/Non-compliant/N/A answers apply to evaluations such as staff attributes, services, and environmental factors.

At the end of the audit you record your overall impression of the store, business, or centre, list specific examples of what was done well, identify opportunities for improvement with specific examples, and add any clarification of previous answers. Photo evidence and annotations can be attached to support observations.

The audit is typically conducted after your visit and includes fields for when it was conducted, the location, who prepared it, and separate start and end dates for the actual visit.

Yes. The checklist includes fields for the inspection's real start and end dates and a completion time, so you can record the visit's duration and when your report was finished.

Yes. The checklist prompts you to capture photographic evidence and add annotations to emphasise your observations, and it includes a signature field to confirm the audit.
